Removing Water Damaged Materials

This can include drywall insulation, particle board, plywood, sub-flooring, etc. Water leaking for a long period of time can cause extensive damage, creating a larger and more costly repair.

This phase of the work can expose dry rot, fungus, mold, and many more problems. After all of the damage is removed, fans are brought in to dry out the surrounding areas. This may take several days. Moisture can be trapped inside if rebuilding begins before completely drying the areas of repair.


Remove and clean upMoisture meters will show how much moisture is in the materials. They are available at construction supply distributors. This will eliminate guessing if the area is ready. The  experience of an experienced professional may be needed in the removal and rebuilding of the water damage. Be sure to check out the contractor before hiring him for the project. A good check list would be helpful.
